Purely You Boudoir
Client Prep Guide
About Me:
Hi, I’m Rebecca, the woman behind Purely You. Photographer, business owner, mom, and your biggest hype girl the second you walk through my studio doors.
I know booking a boudoir session can feel scary. You’re trusting someone to photograph you in a way that can feel incredibly vulnerable, especially when you’re carrying insecurities about your body.
I get it. I’m a mom. I’m a woman. My body has changed through different seasons of my life, and I know what it’s like to look in the mirror and pick yourself apart.
But here’s the difference when you walk into my studio: I’m not scared of your insecurities.
You don’t have to know how to pose, feel confident, or even love every part of your body before you get here. I demonstrate every pose myself and guide you through everything from your fingertips to your toes.
You can be nervous. You can feel vulnerable. You can tell me exactly what you’re insecure about.
I’ve got you.
My job isn’t to turn you into someone else. It’s to show you just how incredible the woman already standing in front of me really is.
What Do I Wear?
Ensuring the success of your session includes carefully selecting your wardrobe. It's crucial to choose options that are not only visually appealing but also enhance your body shape. Make sure to find garments that fit perfectly and accentuate your best features. If lingerie isn't your preference, fret not! Here are some alternative ideas and options to consider for your session.
- Bodysuits: Come in a variety of colors, materials, and are flattering on all body types!
- Bra & Panty Set: Plenty of options available for a natural and sexy look! High waisted, thong, sheer, the options are endless!
- Bra/Panty/Fishnet Combo: Simple, super affordable, and so so sexy! Pair it with a crop tank or baggy t-shirt!
- In the Sheets: Such an empowering way to end your session, and really emphasizes the beauty of your skin and curvature of your body!
- Please also bring a towel for the tub set!
Bring more than you think you will wear, sometimes the best images come from an item you second guessed!
What To Expect
First things first: you do NOT need to know how to pose. Like, at all. That’s literally my job.
Most of the women who walk into my studio have never done anything like this before. They’re nervous, they feel awkward, and they have absolutely no idea what to do with their hands. I expect that!
I demonstrate every single pose before you have to do it. If I’m asking you to arch, point, twist, move your hand somewhere, I’m showing you first.
Then I’ll guide you from your fingertips to your toes and make little adjustments along the way that work specifically for YOUR body.
You don’t have to practice. You don’t have to be a model. And you definitely don’t have to walk in feeling confident.
Just show up. I’ve got the rest.
The Do's and Don'ts before your session:

Session Self Affirmations
Our minds absorb and internalize the thoughts we generate and the words we speak, shaping our beliefs and perceptions. Engaging in self-affirmation prior to your session is an excellent way to cultivate a positive mindset and boost your confidence. Choose a few self-affirmations from the following list, either to repeat aloud daily or focus on a single one:
- I am beautiful and deserving of love and appreciation.
- I embrace my unique qualities and celebrate my individuality.
- I radiate confidence and exude self-assurance.
- I am worthy of self-care and self-expression.
- I am proud of my body and grateful for its strength and beauty.
Take a moment each morning to recite these affirmations aloud, whether in front of a mirror or not. Initially, it may feel challenging, but with consistency, you will gradually internalize and genuinely believe these empowering statements.
Before Your Session:
- Skin: Gently exfoliate your skin a day or two before your shoot. Drinking lots of water and moisturize. Avoid any activity that will cause scratching or bruising to the skin.
- Shaving/Waxing/Threading: Come as you are or how ever makes you feel comfortable. Our goal is for you to be empowered the way you are. If you prefer to shave or thread, make sure to do it at least 5 days before your shoot. If you decided to wax or thread your eyebrows, keep to what you normally do in your routine and do not take excessive hair off.
- Tanning: Tanning is not recommended.
- Manicures/Pedicures: If you plan to glam up those fingers/toes, make sure to get it done a day or two before your session. Pick a color that will go with all of your outfits or find something fun and wild that fits your style.
- If you plan to not get your nails done, make sure to polish your finger nails and trim any nails back that need be.
